In loving memory of Mark Ernst

With great sadness, we regret to inform our Friends of the Fox River of the passing of Mark Ernst, our Vice President. Mark was born on December 25, 1957 and passed away on January 18, 2024. He was a long-time ardent supporter of the Fox River Trail. Mark could be seen on the trail on an almost daily basis, keeping an eye on things. His energy and enthusiasm were infectious and will be greatly missed.

Mark recognized the trail was in need of resurfacing, upgrading and expansion to ensure the trail’s legacy. He challenged and convinced the FFRT to begin our current capital campaign.   

A June 1st celebration life is planned, details to be communicated via Facebook. RIP.

Friends of the Fox River Trail
Friends for the Fox River Trail (FFRT) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping the Brown County Parks Department with the maintenance and upkeep of the Fox River State Recreational Trail in Brown County. Over the past 16 years, the FFRT have helped to raise money to pave additional mileage, to build bathrooms, picnic areas and rest stops. Upcoming projects include working with the Village of Allouez on installing a walking trail and picnic area next to the river in Sunset Park. Besides fundraising, the FFRT hosts work days to help remove invasive species and clean up the areas around the trail.
